What are Dermal Fillers?
Fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, a substance found in the body, and are used to eliminate wrinkles, add volume and hydration to lips, and replace volume loss.
How do Dermal Fillers work?
HA fillers are typically soft and gel-like, which helps keep skin plump and hydrated when injected. The results are not permanent, lasting 6 to 12 months before the body gradually and naturally absorbs the particles.
Will the treatment be painful?
During your initial appointment, we will discuss the appropriate treatment for you. If you are a candidate, the injection may take place the same day. The area to be treated will be cleaned, and you may be given a topical anesthetic to numb the area before injection for additional comfort. Your provider will inject a precise amount of filler methodically under the skin. Most patients report that being injected feels like a pinch or slight burning sensation.
When will I see results?
Results are typically visible immediately after receiving injections.
How long will I see results?
Results vary but may last anywhere from 6-18 months, depending on the area being treated. Injections in the lips will last less time than those in the nasolabial folds. The longevity of the effects of your injections depend on the product, the area of treatment, and the patient. Certain hyaluronic fillers, such as Voluma, are formulated to last longer, but are limited to the cheeks.
Will I need time to recover?
Swelling and mild bruising can occur for up to one week, depending on your body’s response to treatment and the number of doses injected. You may resume your regular activities after treatment, but you should avoid exercise for 24 hours. Give yourself two weeks before any event or vacation.
Will I need additional treatments?
Since fillers are a temporary solution, you will need additional treatments. We will discuss the number of additional treatments during your initial appointment.
