Neurotoxins are wrinkle-relaxing injections of botulinum toxin, commercially known as BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport®, Xeomin®, Jeuveau®, or DAXXIFY™, used to treat wrinkles, frown lines, and crow’s feet. A small amount of the neurotoxin is injected directly into facial muscles, causing them to relax and gradually smoothing the appearance of the overlying skin. The effects generally last around three months.

What is a neurotoxin and how does it work?
Neurotoxins prevent the release of acetylcholine, which disrupts signals that tell muscles to tighten. Neurotoxins relax facial muscles, creating a smoother and softer appearance while preventing more fine lines and wrinkles from forming.
When will I notice the effects of my neurotoxin injections?
Neurotoxins will take effect between five and seven days post-injection. Complete optimization will occur around 14 days and may last approximately three months.
How many treatments will I need?
Maintenance appointments are required to maintain your look and prevent new lines and wrinkles from forming. The effects of your initial neurotoxin injections will wear off roughly three months after your treatment.

What is the difference between filler and injectable neurotoxins?
Dermal fillers and injectable neurotoxins work differently to restore signs of aging. Fillers are made of hyaluronic acid (HA) and add volume and symmetry to areas of concern. However, injectable neurotoxins relax facial muscles that cause wrinkles through repetitive or exaggerated movements like furrowing or raising the eyebrows, squinting, frowning, and smiling.
What side effects should I be aware of after my neurotoxin appointment?
After your appointment, you may notice redness around the injection sites that later form minor bruises. Some tenderness is common at the injection site. Symptoms typically resolve within a few days.
